Holiday Help at SB

We are so excited for this upcoming holiday season! We will have 2 different ways for you to help out foster children across Northern Illinois.

1. Adopt a child or family for Christmas

We are thrilled to be working with the Community Santa Project this year. This amazing group was established to ensure that NO CHILD, NO FAMILY in our community will ever wake up and think they were forgotten. It is their strong belief and mission that everyone wakes up Christmas morning and feels the magic of SANTA. Community Santa Project knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Most recently, their organization realized that by working together they could overcome their challenges much more efficiently, and that is why they ultimately decided to launch Community Santa Project.

Children of all ages have the same dreams and wishes regardless of the circumstances their families may be in at the time. Please help us help others.

Ways to help through Community Santa Project:

Adopt a family – This is great for small groups or community service groups to all contribute to a family in need. We will supply you with detailed information about a family in need. Wish lists and ideas will be included in your family packet. THIS IS THE CORE OF WHAT WE NEED TO ACCOMPLISH!!! Foster families as well as other families in need in our area will be included. SO many families are in crisis or transition or experiencing a hardship and they deserve a Christmas!

Sponsor a child – TAKE A TAG, OR TWO, OR THREE. No child should ever feel forgotten at CHRISTMAS!!! Please help us to make sure that NO child ever wakes up without a CHRISTMAS! All children have dreams and the magic of SANTA is powerful! Lets make sure we allow these children to believe in the magic of SANTA forever…. Each tag on our angel trees at the locations listed below represents a child. There is detailed information on each tag about your special angel. Tags will be available to claim starting November 1st. Here is a current list of our tree locations.

We will keep you posted of needs we may have along the way. We are so excited to work with Community Santa Project this year! If you’d like to find out more about them or have any questions directly, please visit

2. Toy Drive

We are also running a toy and gift card drive straight through SB.

SB will be collecting NEW unwrapped toys ($15-$20 value) through November 22nd. These gifts will be delivered to agencies that we have been working with for them to distribute to the kids. Gift cards are also needed! Shopping, Starbucks, etc.

All toys and gift cards can be dropped off to Second Bridge directly. Our address is 43 E. Crystal Lake Ave downtown Crystal Lake. We are in Suite H which is around the back of the building. Please put all toys in our blue drop box. If you are dropping of gift cards, please put them in an envelope so there are no loose cards.

PLUS we are very excited to announce that we are partnering up with The Dole in Crystal Lake! They will be kicking off their collection at their Birthday Soiree celebrating Mr. Dole’s 200th birthday on November 2nd. The Dole is a supporter of Second Bridge and is a great asset to our community. Since it is an Arts building, they will be collecting music and art related gifts (valued $15-$20) starting at the Birthday Soiree through November 22nd.
